The lower part that houses the variable speed drive is from heavy gauge steel and the upper part is cast iron. A large area table and balanced band wheels are accurately machined from cast grey iron. The cutting blade is completely enclosed , the only part exposed is at the cutting face. A hand wheel is used to tension the cutting blade and a spring is employed. to dampen any blade irregularities. Large cast table trunnion bearings support the table during heavy cutting operations and allow the table to tilt. Your selected angle is read from the scale underneath the table. Access to the band wheels is via hinged doors and a cast base is fitted to allow the unit to be bolted down.
